Bloggers may not be motivated enough to do what they are supposed to do – Candymann

Reputable and ace radio presenter based in Cape Coast, Candymann Lucas Mensah has indicated that bloggers in Cape Coast and the region at large may not be motivated enough to do what they are supposed to do. He made this statement on ATL FM’ s Entertainment Review and Music Chart show,  just this afternoon.

In an interview with Barrister Daniels, host of the program, He (Barrister Daniels) was of the candid view that bloggers in the Ancient city are not doing enough to help the entertainment sector. It was against this background that he called Mr. Candymann Lucas Mensah, an ace event organizer and very popular radio presenter in Cape Coast to share his views on these burning issues. During the interview, Orokodomania popularly known in the Central showbiz circles as Candymann posited that the bloggers are doing the best, but perhaps they are not motivated enough to do what they are supposed to do. He added that sometimes as rumored, some bloggers would demand monies before they write about the musicians and other stakeholders in the industry.

“There are things happening, it’s for the bloggers to work, may be they are not working; may be they are relaxing. That’s what I see… may be they are not motivated enough to do what they are supposed to do. As I earlier indicated, perhaps some are waiting to be paid before they write stories about our celebrities.”

He however dispelled the view that bloggers must take money before they file or publish their stories. He was of the view that as a blogger or news writer, one has to rather go and gather news and file them rather than wait for money or to be paid before the news or story is published; and that failure to do so doesn’t augur well for the profession. He indicated in the interview that:

“I know very well that if you are a blogger or a journalist, you would have to go and gather your news. It’s your work, because news is something that is fresh, unheard of and new, so you are supposed to go for it and bring it to us”.  So if you are not doing it so and you expect that the musician or the celebrity should pay you before you write about them, then you have a long way to go” he added.

Candymann has been nominated for this year’s RTP award and he is the brain behind the prestigious Central Music Awards here in Cape Coast. He currently the drive time host of Darling FM, 90.9 fm.
