Highlife legend, Rex Omar has revealed any act of copyright infractions against him is a clear indication of disrespect.
He made this revelation on Barrister Daniel’s Entertainment Zone on ATL FM. In a telephone interview with the ace presenter, he revealed that among many things, he wouldn’t even have sued Joy Industries if they had come to see him to talk, however he is currently of the view that it is very disrespectful to use his songs without seeking permission from him.

“I am not antagonizing anyone, if they had come to see me, I wouldn’t have taken them to court. Every company that has used my work has paid or settled me because I have written to them. If you want to us my music contact me first, but if you want to use my music without contacting me, then you have no respect for me” he added.
In addition to this, he said that he could have made more money from his suit against Joy Industries if he had been in the United States of America. He made a reference to the case between Marvin Gaye and Pharell Williams after the latter used portions of Gaye’s music.
In November, Rex Omar secured an interlocutory injunction restraining Joy Industries Limited from using his works.
The court further ordered that directors, officers, agents and servants of Joy Dadi Bitters should stop any electronic media from playing the commercial immediately, pending the final determination of the case.
