Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo has revealed the reason why the Ghana Movie industry is struggling.
The ace actor, Dumelo revealed that the movie industry is struggling to catch up with digitization. Speaking on Citi TV, he bemoaned the industry’s inability to catch up with digitization.
Furthermore, he added that in an era where VCDs have become obsolete, any lag in approach to match digitization would always keep us in limbo. As a result, the industry is lacking transformation onto technological platforms. This challenge has made Ghana lurk behind.

“We are lacking transformation onto the technological platforms. Ten years ago, a lot of people did not know about Netflix, the success of a film was based on the number of CDs you sell.”
However, he also added that for the industry to improve, technology should be the solution. Additionally, he advised that the current trend is to make use of online platforms. According to the MP hopeful for the NDC, he advised that industry players must take advantage of online platforms.
“Now everything is online, it left for us to be able to migrate on to the digital platforms” he added.
Furthermore, he reasoned that with the invent of technology, the industry must strive to dive there. It is for a fact that now a lot of people are using smartphones to stream online. Hence, this is the right time to delve there.
