Dancehall prodigy and president of the Bhim Natives group, Stonebwoy has stressed the need to be fit especially as a dance hall artiste if one wants to give a spirited performance on stage. He made this observation and statement when he appeared on the Hitz Day Break Gallery hosted by Andy Dosty early this morning.
The host of the program commended his zeal, and energy after watching his performances in some European countries. Andy Dosty felt that the “People Dey” crooner rather employed a very creative but risky approach. However, Mr. Satekla popularly known as Stonebwoy helped him realize that he was fit and most importantly, it is a culture and routine activity with his genre of music. In view of that he had this to say;
“I know I’m skinny … but in reality, it’s the heart. If you check the genre of music that inspired me from day 1 and even from high life into afro beats, reggae itself, the people that I looked up to growing up, they are like beasts on stage, the Buju’s, Cappleton, the Sizzla’s, Busy Signals, it comes with the genre of the music. You have to be that formidable and also make sure your vocal dexterity is on point.
He therefore allayed the fears of Andy adding that he is not the only one in his line of music doing that sort of performance, and it’s not going to kill him as well.
“I wouldn’t be the first one in the line of my style of music to do that but I’m not killing myself”.
Earlier this month, Stonebwoy’s throwback picture popped on social media where he was clad in his first mentor’s shirt, SAMINI shirt. He added these few words to accompany the pictures. In that photo, Stonebwoy acknowledges Samini’s influence in his life by thanking the veteran Reggae/Dancehall artist again for helping him to become who he is today in a new post.
He posted: “Whatever you do to help yourself especially An up and coming artiste is solely your obligation The Challenges And Struggles Are Part of The Journey.
Many of them these days don’t know how to show Genuine Appreciation and selfless honor for the Least Support Given them Yet They Expect it All..
