Thousands of crowds thronged the Jackson Street of Cape Coast yesterday, 25th December 2019 to witness the 2nd Edition of the Mayor 1 Fancy Dress which shut down the entire ancient Capital.
The event, which was hugely successful saw 8 Fancy dress Groups clad in their stunning regalia as they treated the densely packed fans to some staggering and nerve racking performances that obviously won the hearts of the many who watched live from the grounds, enjoyed the frenzy both on radio and a live Facebook feed as a result of coverage from ATL FM, who were the media partners of the program.
Comments from online viewers on social media and the charged atmosphere coupled with very colorful costumes and an uproar of excitement on the day was highly impressive especially as this is only the second edition, but has drawn more crowds than any other event in the ancient capital during this Christmas festivities.
The final moments came when the final three winners were announced, the tension and turgidity among the contestants catapulted the event to its grand climax when Anchors were announced as the 2nd runner up, however, the drama unfolded when Anchors who were the victors in the first edition failed to accept defeat hence recused themselves from taking the awards which was later given to the fourth placed group, Blessing Yankey. The final moment came when the whole place went blazing with excitement when Ohye WO Akoma mu was announced as winners.
The 2nd edition of the most fascinating Christmas event in Cape Coast, Mayor 1 Fancy Dress carnival was sponsored by The Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr. Ernest Arthur popularly referred to as MAYOR 1and powered by the Creative Arts and Media Association (CAMA).
