Highlife heroine, and member of NAKOREX music band, Akosua Agyapong, has hit hard at her colleague, Rex Omar who constantly discredits the administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The “Frema” hitmaker for some time has been quite vociferous with issues concerning the Ghana Music Rights Organization. In her frustration she blames president of the association, Mr Rexford Owusu Marfo to live up to the task especially as according to her the latter constantly discredits the current government.
As a result, she, therefore, questions the motive for Rex Omar’s decision to criticize the government, while in her estimation, the GHAMRO president has underperformed.
Akosua Agyapong mentioned that Rex Omar is the worst performing chairman of GHAMRO since its establishment.
“Rex Omar is always trying to discredit Akufo-Addo, but what has he (Rex Omar) done for musicians as the Chairman of GHAMRO” he told Accra FM in an interview.
Aksoua Agyapong further stated that during the tenure of Carlos Sakyi, Rex Omar often took to social media to point out his faults, but it turns out that he has rather turned out worst of all the chairmen who had taken the mantle.
“When Carlos was in charge, you (Rex Omar) were on social media platforms criticizing, and so, we thought given the chance, you will do better. Rather the situation is gone from bad to worse. As for Rex, I will say it again and again that among all of them, Rex is the worst GHAMRO chairman ever” she highlighted.
Rex Omar is the chairman of the Ghana Music Right Organization(GHAMRO) and also the spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress on Creative Arts.
However, contrary to claims that Akosua Agyapong was discovered by highlife legend Nana Ampadu, the “Meye obaa” crooner has come out to clear the air that she rather approached the legend to help her during a music competition organized by the Ministry of Health in the late 1980s.
