With schools set to reopen, tomorrow, Monday, 15 June 2020, President Akufo has revealed that Tertiary Institutions are equipped to combat the virus.
President Akufo Addo in his eleventh State of the Nation’s address on how to combat Covid-19 has revealed that tertiary institutions have been equipped to combat Covid-19 in schools.
However, in his address, he made it aware that there would be no mass gatherings. In addition, he stated that hospitals in the various tertiary institutions have been equipped. Furthermore, a total of 600,00 face masks and other logistics have been distributed. Moreover, all tertiary institutions have been disinfected.
Tertiary Institutions equipped to combat Covid-19 scare with logistics
“Government has ensured that all tertiary institutions, public and private tertiary institutions have been disinfected. In addition, they have isolation centres to deal with any positive case. All other institutions without their own health facilities have been mapped to other health facilities. To aid in this effort, a total of 600,000 face masks has been distributed to the tertiary institutions. This is to enable students, all teaching and non-teaching staff to have to 3 reusable masks” he stated.
Furthermore, he also added that 1,700 veronica buckets have also been distributed. An additional 200,000 litres of hand sanitizers and 900 thermometers have been transported to the schools. According to the president, this is being supervised by senior minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo.
“In addition to this, 1,700 veronica buckets, 200,000 litres of hand sanitizers, 3,400 litres of liquid soaps and 900 thermometer guns have been distributed. The transportation and delivery of these items are being overseen by the special logistics team. This team is chaired by the sagacious experienced politician, senior minister, Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo”.
However, the president has debunked the claims that the reopening of schools is a panacea for infections of students.
