Coronavirus update: Ghana’s cases of Coronavirus rises to 132.

The global pandemic, coronavirus (covid- 19) that hit Ghana within the month March with an initial case of 2, has now risen to 132 as confirmed by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

On Thursday morning, the nation woke up to a tripling figure as initially it used to be 68 cases con firmed from the regular surveillance systems.

“All the three cases that unfortunately succumbed to the disease were aged and had underlying chronic medical conditions,” the GHS said in a statement on its website.

“All the other 51 cases are well; 14 are being managed at home and the rest are responding well to treatment on admission in isolation.”

According to details on the portal of the Ghana Health Service, the remainder are keenly waiting for tests result and would be discharged when the tests reveal they’ve tested negative.

Majority of the confirmed cases according to the portal are nationals who returned from outside the country where they’ve recorded such cases.

“Seven are of other nationalities namely: Norway, Lebanon, China, Netherlands, and the United Kingdom (UK).

“The number of confirmed cases among travellers under mandatory quarantine who have been tested is 78,” the GHS said.


Meanwhile, just yesterday, Jack Ma donated some equipment to help fight the coronavirus through the Ethiopian Airlines via the support of the Ethiopian government.

The equipment, consisting 20,000 laboratory diagnostic test kits, 100,000 medical masks, and 1000 protective suits and face shields, to each of the African member states as part of their contribution to the fight against COVID-19 in Africa.
