The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region has temporarily closed down the Kasoa Old and New markets.
In recent times, some drastic measures had been taken to ensure that social distancing protocols are adhered to especially at the markets. A survey conducted by obcommunication.com at some markets in the Central Region, showed that social distancing protocols is a very difficult thing to be done.
The situation is not different in other parts of the country with the Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Janet Mensah, had to close the Dome Market due to the same reason. It is therefore not a surprise to read the notice of closure of the Kasoa Old and New Markets for same reasons.
This follows what the Assembly believes is the inability of the of the market leaders to ensure that traders and vendors alike comply with the social distancing protocol and other enhanced hygiene measures amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
The order takes effect from Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 4 pm.
However, there have been other arrangements made for other satellite markets at the Odupongkepehe Zion, Datus, Akweley Anglican and Ofaakor D/A school parks.
